Liquidnitro Games is India’s flagship live services and game production company, founded by industry veterans with a proven track record in producing massively successful games and live operations. We partner with studios and publishers globally to deliver world-class technology, engineering, and creative services that drive growth and engagement in their games.
Role Overview
As a Senior Database Engineer (SE3) at Liquidnitro Games, you will own the architecture, reliability, and performance of our cloud database platforms powering real-time gameplay and live services. You’ll drive the evolution of data infrastructure strategies across NoSQL, SQL, and caching layers with a focus on scalability, security, and cost optimization. You’ll mentor junior engineers, define standards, and play a key role in production readiness for global-scale systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Architecture & Design: Lead database design and scaling strategies across MongoDB, Redis, and relational databases for massive concurrent user traffic.
- Capacity Planning: Forecast growth and proactively scale clusters to ensure SLAs across high-load regions.
- Data Reliability: Establish disaster recovery (DR), cross-region replication, point-in-time restore strategies, and failure simulations.
- Data Governance: Set and enforce standards for data access, encryption, schema evolution, and lifecycle management across teams.
- Tooling & Automation: Build internal tools for diagnostics, cost observability, access requests, and automated incident detection.
- Mentorship: Guide SE1 and SE2 engineers on best practices, data architecture, and operational excellence.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with Game, Platform, and Analytics teams to align DB schemas with gameplay and telemetry needs.
Skills & Experience
- 7+ years of experience managing and scaling MongoDB, Redis, and SQL clusters in distributed, cloud-native systems.
- Proven experience with high-availability architectures, geo-distributed data, schema migrations, and sharding.
- Expertise in AWS/GCP native data services and performance monitoring.
- Solid knowledge of database internals, query planning, and storage engines (e.g., WiredTiger, InnoDB).
- Fluent in scripting and automation (Python, Terraform, Ansible).
- Strong understanding of data security, auditing, and compliance frameworks.
Bonus
- Hands-on experience with event streaming (Kafka, Kinesis) and data lakes.
- Background in gaming, adtech, or other high-throughput verticals.
